Privacy Policy

Information you give us

• Account details — your name, email address, and password (passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider).
• Profile & eligibility details — your phone number and date of birth.
• Driver’s licence details — your licence number, issuing province/state, expiry date, and a photo of your licence, which you submit so we can verify your identity, age, and eligibility to drive. Licence photos are stored privately and are not publicly accessible.
• Booking details — the Vehicles or Experiences you request, dates, add-ons, promo or gift-card codes, and related notes.
• Reviews & communications — ratings, reviews (including a display name), and any messages you send us.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number is entered directly with Stripe and is not stored on our servers. We receive limited confirmation details (such as a token, the result of a charge or authorization, and the last digits/brand of the card) needed to manage your booking, deposit hold, and refunds.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, our hosting and infrastructure providers automatically log basic technical data — such as your IP address, browser and device type, and access times — to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the platform. We use a strictly necessary authentication/session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics tracking.

We use personal information to:

• Create and manage your account and authenticate you;
• Verify your identity, age, and driver’s licence, and assess your eligibility to rent;
• Process bookings, payments, deposit holds, refunds, promo codes, and gift cards;
• Communicate with you about reservations, reminders, receipts, and support;
• Operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Services and prevent fraud and misuse;
• Publish reviews you choose to submit; and
• Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent, which you give by creating an account and using the Services, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. Some information is necessary to provide the Services — for example, we cannot complete a rental without verifying your licence and age. You may withdraw your consent as described in the Your Privacy Rights section, though doing so may mean we can no longer provide some or all of the Services.

We use only strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies — primarily a secure session cookie that keeps you logged in and protects your account. These are required for the Services to function and cannot be switched off through the platform. Because we do not use advertising or analytics trackers, we do not build advertising profiles about you.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

• Service providers (processors) who help us run the Services under contract, including: Supabase (authentication, database, and private file storage), Stripe (payment processing and deposit holds), Resend (transactional email), and Vercel (website hosting and delivery). They may use your information only to provide services to us.
• Legal & safety — when required by law, court order, or a governmental request, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of any person.
• Authorities for fines & violations — we may identify you to a relevant authority as the responsible driver for tolls, tickets, or violations during your rental.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
• With your consent — for any other purpose we describe to you.

Our service providers may store and process your information on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States. As a result, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful access by courts, law enforcement, and government authorities there. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled by these providers with a comparable level of protection. If you have questions about where your information is stored, contact us using the details above.

Subject to applicable law, you may:

• Access the personal information we hold about you and ask how it has been used or disclosed;
• Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete (you can update much of it directly in your account);
• Withdraw consent or ask us to stop using your information, subject to legal and contractual limits; and
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal information.

Note that we may need to retain certain information to meet legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution obligations even after a deletion request.

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy — including providing the Services, supporting your account, and meeting our legal, tax, accounting, insurance, and dispute-resolution obligations — after which we securely delete or anonymize it. Booking and payment records are typically retained longer than account profile data to satisfy financial and legal requirements.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security on our database, private storage for sensitive documents such as licence photos, and payment handling by a PCI-compliant provider (Stripe). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.

The Services are intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, and our driver-eligibility requirements are higher still. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

The Services may link to third-party websites or services we do not control. This Policy does not apply to them, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies before providing personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
